Monogram kit + some alternations
Scale: 1/24
As I worked on the BMW M3, I got a gift from a fellow builder (thank you Henrik) and that was this kit which he had started upon, remade and done some alternations.
When I started with this, I did some little research on the car to see the history and foremost - why was it called "The Judge". So here it is:
The car’s name is a pop culture reference to “Here comes Da Judge,” a recurring catchphrase on the 1960s TV show Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, where Sammy Davies Jr plays the judge.
With that in mind, I tried to incorporate the colour scheme and Mr Davies Jr to the car.
In the received package, there were so many extra parts (specially engine) which made it a bit trickier to build - what parts to chose?
The drivers door and trunk cover was cut up and re-built, so that they could be opened and closed.
Repainted the engine.
Used masking liquid on the wheels to re-paint the rims, as the rim and wheel were glued together.
The body is washed and I had to sand it down a bit more and prime it.
Engine finished
Dry fitting the body and chassi
Tried a new way of painting the body, so the surface is like orange peel. Good idea at the beginning, but the outcome - nah...
Mr Sammy Davies Jr that I first tried in water decals - but it didn't work out. So I cut it out the silhoutte on my Cricut machine instead.
This is the first part of renovating the car, next part is to place it into a diorama.
